Hi I’m Lisa!
I started my cake journey in 2008 during a very challenging season in my life. I was a stay at home mom of 5 children, ranging from teenagers to a toddler, a child on the spectrum and one diagnosed with a rare disorder causing her to become wheelchair bound.
Watching a video one day sparked an interest in making a cake. I watched a how-to video on You Tube and created a simple little cake. This ignited a passion inside of me and I spent countless hours learning and absorbing all that I could about baking and cake decorating. First making cakes for family and friends, which helped me to eventually have a budding home-based business. What started as curiosity turned into a passion for creating edible art. During many challenging times, I found comfort in expressing myself through creating art. I think it’s fair to say, I didn’t find cake, it found me.
In 2012, my family went through the worst thing anyone possibly can. We lost my 7-year-old daughter Bella Rose suddenly. Needing to take the time to grieve the loss of my daughter, I didn’t bake another cake for over 2 years. After moving from Florida to Colorado for a fresh start, healing, and self-discovery, there was an innate desire to create again. Cake reentered my life when I needed it the most.
In 2015 I rebranded A Cake Come True with a rose in honor of my Bella Rose and she became the heartbeat of my business. She is what drives my passion to create beautiful memories for my clients.
This is a big part of my story and I think it’s important to share my humble beginnings. I’m not classically trained, and I haven’t interned with famous cake designers. I started from the ground up with shear hard work, dedication to my craft and a drive for success.
I’m so grateful for all the amazing opportunities I’ve had. From having my work published in magazines to being on national television. I’ve worked alongside amazing artists and collaborated with some of the most talented creatives. I’m grateful for the amazing clients that have trusted me and allowing me to be a part of their most special days.
When I’m not creating, you’ll likely find me exploring with my amazing hubby. We have a deep love for our new roots in Colorado, especially the amazing city of Denver.
